Books are tricky. Most books for adults you can safely assume are Printed in USA (over here anyway), or somewhere in the Americas.
Kids' books are trickier- anything with pop-ups, sounds, or things that move will probably be Made in China. As are all Board Books (those thick-paged ones). See this example - the Dora book is from USA, the Board book is from China.
Check the inside cover or the back - it's hard to find, but it's almost always there.
